If you are using Outlook XP/2002 you must have the most recent Microsoft Service Pack installed or you may encounter an error message while trying to send email. You can check which version you have by completing the following steps.
- Open Outlook
- Click Help in the menu bar (located at the top of the Outlook screen)
- Click About Microsoft Outlook
You must have the SP3 after the version number as shown in the screen shot below:
If you do not have the SP3 version you will need to update your Outlook. Here's how:
- Visit http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/default.aspx.
- Click Check for Updates.
- Restart your computer after you have verified that all updates are installed.
- Try sending and receiving mail via Outlook.
