Installing F-Secure

Summary

Every new WildBlue customer must have an active anti-virus and anti-spyware program installed on their computer before the installer connects them to the WildBlue Network. The WildBlue Welcome Kit contains a CD with the WildBlue Security Center, provided by F-Secure. WildBlue provides this service to you free for the first 12 months of your contract.

This article describes the installation process for the WildBlue Security Center.

Rules

Prerequisites

  1. You have the WildBlue Security Center software because either:
    1. You received the Welcome Kit with the WildBlue Security Center CD and the access key code, or
    2. You had access to the Internet and downloaded WildBlue Security Center.
  2. You have uninstalled any existing antivirus software using the Add/Remove tool from the Windows Control Panel.

The Setup Wizard

  1. Close any open applications on your PC. 
  2. Insert the WildBlue Security Center CD into the disc drive. The Setup Wizard starts automatically.
  3. If you downloaded, double-click the WildBlue Security Center icon and select Run.
    4.  Install
  4. Read the Welcome to WildBlue Security Center Setup screen. Click Next when finished.
    5.  Install
  5. Read the License Agreement and click Accept to continue.
    Note: Selecting Decline cancels the installation.
    6.  Install
  6. Type the Subscription Key exactly as it appears on the Access Key sticker in the Welcome Kit. Click Next when complete.
    Note:  Subscription Keys for additional PCs are available through Customer Care.

Install Software

Note: We strongly recommend installing F-Secure when your Internet connection is available. This allows the setup program to download required updates during the installation.

  1. When installation completes, click Restart to restart the PC.
    Note: The PC restarts itself after two minutes.
  2. After restart, the Subscription Validation and Successful Installation screens appears. This ends the installation process, but the application still requires configuration.
  3. See section Start-Up Wizard below.

Conflicting Software

Install
  1. The Setup Wizard looks for other anti-virus applications during the installation. If it finds any conflicting programs, this screen appears. It is important that you have only 1 anti-virus program installed on your computer at a time. Click Next to remove the conflicting software.
  2. Restart the PC when removal is complete.
  3. After the Restart, installation resumes.

Start-Up Wizard

  1. Click Yes, and then Next.
    2. Install
  2. Click Start-up Wizard, and then Next.

  3. Confirm that Perform full computer check and Enable a weekly virus scan are selected.
  4. Click Next to continue.
  5. Click Finish to accept the settings.
  6. WildBlue Security Center automatically runs the first system scan. This may take several minutes to run, depending on the size of the hard drive.
