What happens if I exceed the bandwidth Usage Thresholds under the Fair Access Policy (FAP)?

Each time your bandwidth usage exceeds the bandwidth Usage Thresholds as defined in the WildBlue Fair Access Policy (FAP), your download speed will be capped at 128kbps, and your upload speed will be capped at 28kbps.

  • WildBlue measures bandwidth usage over the previous rolling 30-day period.
  • Customers who do exceed their FAP Usage Thresholds will have slower upload and download speeds for a period of time, until their bandwidth usage over the previous 30 days drops below 70% of  both Usage Thresholds.
  • Your speeds will be restored when your data usage falls below 70% for both Usage Thresholds.
  • The amount of time it takes for speeds to be restored varies, and depends on your usage history.
  • During the period of slowed speeds, you may lose connectivity during peak usage hours (5pm -10pm).
If you repeatedly exceed your FAP Usage Thresholds, your use of the service may be slowed and restricted to web browsing activities, sending, and receiving email.  If your usage does not fall below 70% for both of your Usage Thresholds, within the next 30 days, that will be treated as if you exceeded your Usage Thresholds for a second (or subsequent) time.

Please see the WildBlue Customer Agreement for policy provisions, including applicable fees.
