How to switch between Dial-up access and the Satellite Modem

Summary

This article describes how a WildBlue user can switch between using the satellite modem and the dial-up access without changing any previous configurations.

Rules

Prerequisites

  1. Established Dial-up access services
  2. Created Dial-up connection in Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Mac OS X
  3. Close all browser windows.

Switching from Satellite Modem to Dial-up Access

  1. Disconnect the modem power supply cable from the wall outlet.

    Note: Do not remove the cable from the modem.
  2. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the computer.

    Note: Do not remove the Ethernet cable from the modem.
  3. Connect the phone line between the dial-up modem and the phone jack on the wall.

 

Switching from Dial-up Access to the Satellite Modem

  1. Remove the phone line from the computer.
  2. Connect the Ethernet cable to the computer.
  3. Plug the satellite modem power supply into the wall outlet.
  4. Open the browser.
