Configure Windows Vista for DHCP

  1. Close all applications that are active on the customer’s PC.
  2. Click the Start button on the Windows toolbar.

  3. Select Control Panel from the pop-up menu to open the Control Panel window

  4. On the Control Panel window, double-click the Network and Sharing Center icon to open the Network and Sharing Center window.

    NOTE: If the Control Panel looks different, choose Classic View from the left side of the screen.

  5. From the left side of the screen click the Manage Network Connections option. This will bring you to the Network Connections screen.

  6. Right-click the WildBlue Local Area Connection. (If the User Account Control window comes up click the Continue button.) Choose Properties from the drop-down menu. This will show you the Local Area Connection Properties screen.

  7. On the LAC Properties screen, under “This connection uses the following items” click Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4). Then click the Properties radio button at the bottom.

  8. On the Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IP) Properties window choose the General tab and verify/select the radio buttons for Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server automatically and then click on the OK button to save the changes and close the window.

  9. Click the Close radio button on the Local Area Connection Properties window.
  10. Close the Network Connections window by clicking the X in the top right.
  11. Close the Network and Sharing Center window by clicking the X in the top right.
  12. Restart the computer.
