Equipment Reboot Procedure

Summary

Use this article to properly reboot your equipment, including your WildBlue modem, your PC, and a third-party router if you use one.

Rules

Prerequisites

  1. Make sure Ethernet cables are correctly connected between the modem and PC, and any 3rd party equipment.      

Note: Wireless routers do not require a cable connection to the PCs they support.

Content

Shut Down Equipment

  1. Shut down the PC from the Start menu on the desktop.
  2. Unplug the router or other 3rd party equipment from the wall outlet.
    • If no router is present, continue to step 3.
  3. Unplug the modem from the wall outlet.
  4. Wait 2 full minutes with all equipment powered down.
    Note: The modem needs 2 minutes to completely power off so that it has a fresh connection to the network when it powers up again.

Restart Equipment

Powerup
  1. Plug the modem back into the wall outlet and wait until it acquires signal.
    • The modem is locked to the satellite when the Receive LED (RX, 2nd from the top) remains solid.
  2. Plug in the router or other 3rd party equipment to a power source.
    • If no router is present, continue to step 3.
    • Wait 30-60 seconds for the equipment to start up.
  3. Power on the PC.
  4. Launch the Internet browser.
  5. If still unable to browse the Internet, connect the Ethernet cable directly from the modem to the PC and repeat this process.
  6. If you are still unable to browse the Internet after connecting directly to your PC, contact your Customer Care team for additional assistance.
