News - 09/09/2008 - Phishing Email

WildBlue would like to alert our customers to be aware of a fraudulent (aka "phishing") email aimed at soliciting personal information (e.g. account number, credit card, email account passwords, etc).  The fraudulent email requests that customers reply and include their wildblue.net email password.   

WILDBLUE WILL NEVER REQUEST CUSTOMERS CONFIRM PERSONAL CREDIT CARD, PASSWORD OR ACCOUNT INFORMATION VIA EMAIL. 

Any customer who has responded to such an email request should update their password immediately. 

The following is an example of how the fraudulent email will look:

From: info@wildblue.net <upgrades003@comcast.net>
Date: Tue, Sep 2, 2008 at 12:22 PM
Subject: Attn: wildblue.net Webmail Subscriber

To:

Attn: wildblue.net  Webmail Subscriber,

To retain  your wildblue.net Webmail account, you must reply to this email
immediately and enter your password here (*********) to enable us
upgrade your wildblue.net webmail account.The upgrade exercise will begins
in a few days time and we advise you to provide the requirement
as soon as possible.

Failure to do this will immediately render your email address
deactivated from our database.

Confirm Your E-mail Address(                  )

Your response should be sent to
admin manager personal Email: webdept2008@hotmail.com

WildBlue will never ask you for your credit card, bank account number, or wildblue.net email password via email.  We hold your privacy and security at a top priority and we will never request this kind of information from you in an unsolicited email.
