How can I enhance speed when sending and receiving email via my webmail?

To enhance your speed when sending and receiving email, you can simply change a setting in Gmail!  This change will ensure your email is presented in http format and not https format.  Follow the below steps to change this setting in Gmail.

Note: The performance improvement gained by this setting change is only applicable when you go to your web mail (wildblue.net) from your iGoogle page or link directly from another page.  On the wildblue.net iGoogle page, there are several links to your webmail that use http.  Links to your web mail from other Google Apps components, e.g. Calendar, will use https regardless of this setting.  If you have a favorite link in your browser that links directly to http://mail.google.com/a/wildblue.net/, that will use https as well.

Using https is more secure than using http. If you are accessing your webmail from another person’s computer outside your home and over an unsecured wireless network, you should then use https to ensure you are using a secure connection.  It is easy to flip between the two!  You can:

  • Change  the setting by following the steps below
  • Manually enter https://mail.google.com/a/wildblue.net/ into your browser’s address bar
  • Save the above link as a favorite and link to your web mail via the favorite link

Steps to Change Mail Presentation to Http Format

  1. Select the drop down arrow next to the gear symbol.  A tool menu will then display.
